Project Overview
We have been commissioned by Clear Channel for this project. "Develop a concept into a prototype that can be displayed on digital advertising screens". We were allowed to choose the subject ourselves. We have opted for sun protection in the city centre. We want to inform and activate different people to use sunprotection even when the sun doesn't shine.

Our design question
My Contributions
At the beginning of the project I had a different topic. We wanted to focus on sun protection at a festival. That is why I conducted research into the role of the municipalities and created a cultural probe for festivalgoers to convey information in a fun way. This project did not proceed because it does not utilize Clear Channel's reach. We then decided as a team that we would retain sun protection because there are many cases of skin cancer in the Netherlands. We have expanded the location to people in the city center.
After this decision, I again researched the dangers of the sun. I have created and forwarded a survey. Here I found out that there are different sub-target groups such as people who do not apply sunscreen and people who do and their reasons. With this information I made lo-fid screens and tested the usability. As a final step, we as a team created and presented the layout of the screens for Clear Channel.
What did I learn?
I spent a lot of time strengthening my visual skills. In addition, I have done extensive research before and after "Kill your Darling" to learn as much as possible about the subject and the target audience. By distributing tasks within the team, we shared information with each other and ensured that we were aware of each other's findings.
To further expand my knowledge, I have taken additional workshops through the university, such as "Design Principles" and "Context Mapping".
